Runners competing in the Little Miami Half Marathon on Sunday, August 14 will be vying for a state title. The race has been awarded as Ohio’s Half Marathon Championship race by the Road Runners Club of America. Runners from throughout the state can race to see who the fastest half marathon runners are overall and in their respective age groups. The race will take place in Morrow, Ohio. Free elite entries are available.
“The race has gained a reputation for being a flat, fast course,” said Derek Griffiths, race director. “The size has grown from just 200 runners in our first year to more than 700 runners. We are excited to celebrate our seventh year.”
The RRCA will award custom medals to the top overall men’s and women’s winners, as well as the fastest masters (age 40-40), grand masters (age 50-59), and seniors (ages 60 and up). Founded in 1958, the Road Runners Club of America is the oldest and largest national association of running clubs, running events, and runners dedicated to promoting running as a competitive sport and as healthy exercise. The RRCA’s mission is to represent and promote the common interests of its member clubs, events, and individual runners through education, leadership, programs and other services.
The Little Miami Half Marathon and 10K is a flat and fast scenic race run along the banks of the Little Miami River. Are you training for a fall marathon or half marathon? This race is a perfect tune-up! Plus, the entire course is run on a shaded bike path, which is a big bonus during Ohio’s humid summer months!
The race starts and finishes in Morrow, Ohio, just a few miles east of King’s Island, and travels through South Lebanon and Kings Mills. A technical running shirt featuring the race logo will be given in both men’s and women’s sizes, and participants will receive a finisher’s medal. The race features chip timing and age group awards. David Long of CincyPhotography.com will be taking professional finish photos for purchase.
The event benefits Friends of the Little Miami State Park and the Ohio State Parks.
